  Abstract:
Among the different models for motion perception, we studied a model based on spatio-temporal weighted averaging in motion reversal experiment. In this experiment , two vertical bars located in different sides of the fixation point , move horizontally in different directions toward each other and when they meet , the direction of motions reverse . The subjects perceived that the motion directions reversed before the bars reach each other.
The dislocation index depends on the forward and backward speed of the bars .The simulated curve fitted well with the corresponding measured values from human data .Both the forward and backward motion had the same effect on the dislocation index and showed that the weight curve has even symmetry in the time domain .Also the subjects took into account the data from a time interval of approximately 160-180 ms.
To evaluate the effect of flash on dislocation index ( perceived motion ) , we did another experiment using two flashes (one flash above the moving bars and another under them) at the time of motion reversal . Our results showed that the effect of pre-flash motion (forward motion) decreased and the weight curve changed.
Another similar experiment with circular motion led to similar effect.
